Microsoft enforcement of the 'Team Member' license: Will this stop your business?

What does this mean for you?

Microsoft has announced that for users of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, the 'Team Member' license type is going to be rigorously system enforced.

If any of your users are using this type of license, it is likely to have a very serious impact or even stop their ability to access Microsoft Dynamics unless you take the corrective action needed.

Why is this happening?

Companies opted for this user access license because of its low cost. Up until now, Microsoft operated a 'trust' model, and so didn't enforce license restrictions through the software. As a result, some customers, either by accident or design, have over-stepped the functional boundaries of the license. This system enforced change will ensure that customers stay within the functional license boundary but it also means that customers who have Teams users that were using functionality outside of the license scope will have their access rights closed off automatically.
